Tuition and aid

Tuition and financial aid.

Tuition 2026-27
Tuition for 2026-27 is $68,700, from the full-day Threes Program through Grade 12.
What tuition includes
Tuition supports faculty salaries and benefits, teaching materials, equipment, technology, maintenance, campus operating expenses, financial aid, and classroom trips and activities.
Fees outside tuition
Not in tuition: an Enrollment Fee of $100, Parent Association Dues of $85, an Activity Fee of $125, a Facility Improvement fee of $1,150 for Middle and Upper Division students, a $325 Middle Division book fee, lunch, and some student technology devices. Transportation costs extra, and optional tuition refund insurance is available.
Other costs
Private music lessons and special trips during breaks, such as language or club travel, cost extra.
Annual increases
In recent years the annual tuition increase has been between 4% and 6%. Families who receive aid typically get additional funding for part of the increase.
Payment plans
Families can pay in full in February, use a 3 pay plan (20% in February, 60% plus fees June 1, 20% December 1), or a 10 pay plan (20% in February, then monthly payments of the balance from May 1 to January 1). Required non-tuition fees are due June 1 on any plan.
Need-blind admission
Admission is need-blind. Applicants are evaluated without regard to a request for financial aid, and aid decisions come with the admission offer.
Aid at Horace Mann
For 2026-27, 17.5% of students receive more than $19,500,000 in financial aid, and awards ranged from $2,000 to $68,700.
How to apply for aid
Families apply through the Clarity application, which is online, typically takes less than 30 minutes and is available in Spanish. The submission fee is $65, and the application can be shared with other schools that accept Clarity at no extra charge.
Aid deadline
The financial aid application for 2027-28 is due November 15, 2026.
Both parents
Both custodial and non-custodial parents and guardians must complete the aid materials. A Non-Custodial Parent Waiver Form exists for an absent parent.
Tax verification
Clarity's Enhanced Tax Verification is completed once every three years, while families still submit a Clarity application each year they want aid.
Limited funds
The aid budget is limited. Late applications may not be considered if funding is no longer available when materials arrive.
Renewal
Families must apply for aid every year, and aid is not guaranteed. The school endeavors to continue aid at a commensurate level if the family situation does not change.
Ingenio Non Censio Scholars Program
Beginning in 2027-28, the Ingenio Non Censio Scholars Program gives full tuition and non-tuition support to families earning less than $150,000 without significant assets.
Financial Aid Office
The Financial Aid Office can be reached at 718-432-4101 or financial_aid@horacemann.org.
  1. 01

Recheck the figures on the school website before you budget, since tuition changes each year.

  2. 02

Gather tax documents early so the aid application takes an evening, not a week.

  3. 03

Apply by the deadline: the aid budget is limited and late applications may not be considered.
